The amazing science classes of 2025

This year, science has introduced me to many new concepts but there was one that truly stood out from the rest for me. I think the most interesting and fascinating concept I learned in science this year was the adaptations of animals, I found thus particular topic quite intriguing because it really made me think about why things are the way that they are. I enjoyed studying different animals and their adaptations because it opened up a whole new world of questions and knowledge that I hadn’t taken the time to think about before.

Of course, not all of the concepts we learned about in class this year were particularly easy to understand, some of them were a little trickier than others. For me the most difficult topic in science to understand was Life and the Taiao because there were so many different concepts to learn and remember. I had a hard time memorising the different factors but in the end I found it very interesting and it is definitely something that will be used in everyday life.

About using science in the real world during daily life, science helps you in so many ways by helping you understand the world around you and even perceive it differently. Something I learned in science this year that I think will help me in the real world is the nature of matter because it teaches you all about solids, liquids, and gasses and what they are, which I believe is very important for everyday life because it explains a lot about how things work and function, which I also thought was very interesting.

I am still extremely fascinated with learning new and different concepts of science, I find science very interesting and there is one area that I still don´t know a whole lot about. In the future, I hope to become more familiar with  the science of astrophysics, I for one am very curious about this particular aspect of science as I believe it would help me achieve a deeper meaning on space and why it is the way it is.

Overall, This year has been very eye opening and I think these year 9 science classes have given me a great introduction for further learning and knowledge. Whaea Shweta has been such an amazing teacher and I hope to still see her around the school. I will definitely continue to learn about science and I look forward to it.

Ecology

Hey there, I have been learning a lot about ecology recently and would like to share it with you.

Ecology is all about living organisms and the different terms that define them. How do you know if something is alive? you can easily tell if something is alive by seeing if it has cells, if it does, great! it’s alive, but if it does not it is not, will not and has not lived.

Cells are made up of many different organelles that different between plant cells and animal cells, all cells have the two organelles that are called Nucleus and Mitochondria. The Nucleus controls everything about what happens in the cell and it contains the DNA, a Mitochondria is almost like the powerhouse for the cell, if you are an animal it would turn the nutrients and food you eat into energy for the cell, but if it was in a plant the Mitochondria would turn the sunlight into energy which is a process called photosynthesis which makes the plant grow. There is an organelle that both plant cells and animals have called a vacuole but it differs from each cell because in a plant cell it would be bigger and more pronounced whereas in an animal cell the vacuole is much smaller, it is used as a storage system for nutrients for the cell.

There are some organelles that are special to the different cells, the plant cell has a cell wall which keeps the plant’s structure firm and allows it to grow properly, but an animal cell does not have a cell wall and only has cells membrane which controls what goes in and out of the cell.

I have also learnt about the places where organisms live which is called their habitat, the amount of a singular species in one area is called the population and the group of different species in that area is called the community. If you are referring to the different organisms and not living things around them it is called an ecosystem.

That was most of what I have learned on this subject, Thank you.
